Climate Change and Security Course started

Today, 5^th April, the Climate Change and Security Course began. The course is conducted under the auspicious of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), with the support of the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.

For the next four days the course will provide an ample opportunity for acquiring new knowledge and for constructive exchange of good practices

A diverse group of representatives and lecturers from NATO Allies, the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative and Partners Across the Globe, who work on climate change mainstreaming policy development and implementation at the national or regional, and international levels, as well as such involved in civilian protection, disaster protection and humanitarian assistance capacity building, will take part in the course.

The hot topics as global warming as a phenomenon and a security threat multiplier, the impact of climate change on international peace and security, the necessity of integrated policy options to address these climate-security challenges and climate change and health impacts will be discussed.

A unique component of the course will be a specialized Strategy Game on Climate Change.
