CMDR COE Internship Research Paper presentations

Date: (25-07-2023)

Another prolific round of the CMDR COE Internship Program has come to an end and the Research Paper presentation took place today, 25 July 2023 in front of the Centre’s team of experts. The two interns from the March-July Term presented their projects. The first presentation was that of Ms. Tsveti Monova, supervised by LTC Genadi Kolev. She focused on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the modeling time-dependent processes besides how AI can enhance NATO’s capabilities in the future. Ms. Monova gave some interesting suggestions and examples about how AI can be incorporated into a website designed for a rapid response to crises. At the end of her presentation, she discussed the advantages of using AI clustering to filter corruption-related data.

Next presentation was delivered by Ms. Gergana Belcheva, supervised by Mr. Boris Guenov. Her case studies cover the issue of the public communications in times of a crisis as she uses examples and experience from earthquakes in Turkiye and Croatia. She demonstrated in her presentation the flaws of public communication in times of an emergency. Ms. Belcheva provided suggestions for improvement that can help countries to better prepare for such events and how the nation can stay informed during a disaster without falling in the trap of disinformation.

Both presentations received positive feedback from the audience and many insightful questions, that allowed the interns to further expand on what they have learned during the internship research, were raised. The CMDR COE Director presented certificates to the interns in recognition of their successful completion of the programme, and in appreciation of their work on the research papers, and the entire dedicated performance.
