Date: (27-03-2024)
March 26, 2024 - A consortium of esteemed institutions including the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, the Ministry of Defense of Bulgaria, Rakovski National Defense College, CMDR COE, and BULSIM gathered at the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) to propel forward the groundbreaking research initiative of the MSG-221 "M&S in Support of Building Resilience and Management of People Mass Movement".
Chaired by the Director of CMDR COE, COL. Orlin Nikolov, the meeting marked a collaborative effort among experts from various domains including national and international security, migration studies, modelling and simulations, mathematics, environmental studies, and climate change.
Central to the discussions was the recognition of the profound interconnection between mass movements of people and societal resilience. Participants underscored the imperative of developing a robust simulation model to empower NATO and its allies in strategic planning and effective management of migration flows. The resounding commitment of the working group was reaffirmed to craft a functional model that will significantly enhance NATO's capability to manage migration flows and facilitate seamless integration into host societies.
The overarching objective of this initiative is to fortify resilience during crises and significant disasters, thereby amplifying the collective strength of the Alliance and its member nations. By leveraging expertise across multiple disciplines and institutions, the working group aims to deliver innovative solutions that meet the evolving challenges of the modern world.
