Internship Call for Application
Date: (28-05-2021)
CMDR COE launched its Internship Programme in 2016 in order to enable capable and motivated young people to join the experts working in international organizations, to allow CMDR COE to benefit from the knowledge and skills of young professionals in their activities in various projects, as well as to familiarise the academic community with the nature, functions and activities of CMDR COE.
For the last years the experts from the CMDR COE have been working in different projects and specifically in the area of Resilience, Climate change and Modelling&Simulation.
Looking at the Resilience as a core element of collective defence NATO works in different directions to develop it. CMDR COE also gives its contribution by participating in some projects in the area. It participated in developing the Collaborative Resilience Concept. Also in cooperation with CIMIC COE the Centre created and conducts the Resilience through Civil Preparedness Course.
The CMDR COE has been working also in the area of Climate change since beginning of its existence. The Centre hosted and organized different workshops and seminars. Also under the auspices of European Security and Defence College it conducts Climate Change and Security Course. This course is supported also by the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria.
The CMDR COE is expecting the potential interns to contribute to the work of the Centre in the above mentioned areas and its projects in which it is involved.
The interns that are going to work in the area of Modelling&Simulation will be appointed in the OpsLab and could have tasks related with:
- modelling of natural events with significant impacts over the environment and society. Analyses of statistical data, development and verification of mathematical models. It includes disasters like flooding, wild-fire, landslides, etc. Later, the mathematical model is implemented in C# based application.
- process identification. Processes related with crisis. It faces mostly the strategic and operational level. The focus is on the multidimensional correlations.
- Python (Pytorch), OpenCV and other AI related instruments. The tasks are related with the usage of the AI at different levels, like object recognition for tactical level or decision-making support at operational and strategic.
- Theoretical and conceptual thinking. Researches on the impact of specific new technology over concrete social, industrial and military processes. How the newly generated capabilities could change the actual doctrines. Building of algorithms seeking synergy.
