Disaster Response and Consequence Management for a Radiological Incident Course

Date: (08-04-2025)
The Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence, in close cooperation with the U.S. Department of Energy, is proud to announce the latest iteration of the Disaster Response and Consequence Management for a Radiological Incident Course, continuing a strong tradition of building partnership capacity and reinforcing NATO’s expertise in Emergency Preparedness and Response.
Set against the backdrop of an increasingly complex global risk environment, the course underscores the critical need for coordinated, multi-agency, and multinational efforts in managing radiological crises effectively. The collaboration between CMDR COE and the DOE remains anchored in a shared commitment to filling capability gaps, fostering mutual cooperation, and leveraging national strengths in support of NATO and partner nations.
In recognition of the diverse and interconnected nature of modern crisis response, the course brings together military officers, emergency civilian leaders, security professionals, and disaster medicine experts. This multidisciplinary composition mirrors the real-world demands of radiological incidents response—where success depends on teamwork, coordination, and a unified response posture.
The students will have the opportunity to share national CBRN (Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear) experiences and perspectives. Working alongside subject matter experts from the DOE, the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA), the NATO Joint CBRN Defence Centre of Excellence, and the Slovenian Armed Forces, participants will engage in scenario-based discussions and practical exercises aimed at strengthening collective readiness and resilience.
The CMDR COE and DOE remain committed to advancing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and enhancing interoperability in the field of radiological incident response—ultimately contributing to saving lives and stabilizing affected communities.
