The Spring Iteration of the CMDR COE Internship Programme commenced

The interns Asya Arsova and Can Uyar were selected after competitive process, based on their education and skills.
Asya has a bachelor's degree in International Relations and is currently studying at the Rakovski National Defence College in Sofia, pursuing a master's degree in "National Security and Defence". Mentored by LTC Genadi Kolev she will be working on the topic "Analyzing Dynamics and Impacts of Contemporary People Mass Movements: A Multidisciplinary Exploration", which represents a significant challenge and an important part of the international agenda, especially when it comes to the newest global trends.
Can is a final-year university student of Emergency and Disaster Management at Anadolu University and English Language and Literature student at Hacettepe University in Ankara/Türkiye. He is the founding president of Hacettepe University Disaster Management Community and has been volunteering as a Disaster Awareness and Crisis Management Instructor at the University. Lead by LTC Margarita Kumanova, he will be researching Social Capacity in Disaster Respond: enhancing resilience by Education and Training which is the expertise area of CMDR COE with their extensive courses.
The interns Asya Arsova and Can Uyar had the chance from the beginning of their tour to attend Analysis and Lessons Learned Training. In addition, on the occasion of the commemoration of the devastating earthquake in 2023 in Turkiye, Can Uyar shared his experience as first responder on the field.
The new interns were warmly welcomed by the Director, the staff, and the intern Ekaterina Popova. Asya and Can joint the CMDR COE Internship Programme, looking forward for the opportunities provided by CMDR COE, the solid range of tools, experience and knowledge important for their personal development and improvement.

On 11-12 December 2013, the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) co-hosted together with US European Command (USEUCOM) and the US embassy in Bulgaria the workshop Visualizing Implications of Climate Change on Military Activities and Relationships. The opening remarks were given by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Bulgaria, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, who welcomed the participants and underlined the importance of the topics that the workshop focused on.
