Strengthening Crisis Preparedness: Insights from "Darb al-Aman 4"
Date: (24-12-2024)
In December 2024, three experts from the CMDR COE took part in "Darb al-Aman 4" (Path to Safety), a comprehensive national exercise organized by Jordan's National Centre for Security and Crises Management (NCSCM) in Amman. This multifaceted exercise, held in various locations including the capital Amman, was spearheaded by the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army (JAF). It featured contributions from both public and private sectors, and was overseen by NCSCM Chairman HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein.
The operation saw involvement from over 3,500 personnel from governmental and security bodies alongside 400 volunteers from the "All Jordan Youth Commission". It was designed to evaluate Jordan's readiness for crises and emergencies via several strategic national approaches, notably the cohesive strategy for aid management during large-scale crises. Moreover, the exercise incorporated a national earthquake response strategy, simulating real-life scenarios to enhance quick response and life-saving protocols.
Beyond traditional emergency scenarios such as earthquakes, "Darb al-Aman 4" also confronted modern challenges. The exercise highlighted the impacts of climate change, including floods and marine pollution, underscoring Jordan's commitment to preparing for a wide range of threats.
