CMDR COE Steering Committee (SC) meeting

The Steering Committee is the strategic governing body, responsible for the approval and management of the Centre's Programme of Work and the shared budget.
Тhe Chairperson of the SC, Lieutenant General Mihail Popov, Bulgarian Deputy Chief of Defence, welcomed the representatives from the Framework Nation, the Sponsoring Nations, and the observers from the Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye and the Allied Command of Transformation. He ensured that all SC members and CMDR COE staff are dedicated and committed to the further development of the Centre.
The Committee acknowledged the reported activities for 2024, discussed the Financial Budget, noted the proposed changes on the structure and the main documents, and approved the Program of Work for next year, on the basis of NATO’s, Sponsoring Nations’ requests for support and CMDR COE operational development necessities.
It was reported that the Centre’s activities and assigned tasks have been successfully completed, and the Centre continues to expand its range of offerings. The courses conducted in 2024 attracted considerable attention from experts and institutional representatives within the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Community of Interest, affirming the Centre’s capacity to address both, current and emerging global security challenges.
Notably, this is the first year, in which the CMDR COE is in its role as a NATO Department Head for the Business Continuity Management Discipline. In line with the Centre’s strategic objectives, the CMDR COE has already demonstrated its readiness to take on the development of this discipline, contributing to the multilateral efforts that advance NATO’s transformation.
The discussions were productive and valuable to the shared mission and ongoing development of CMDR COE, standing ready and competent to continue to advance its work in support of NATO’s transformation in the CMDR domain.
The hard work, professionalism and dedication of the CMDR COE staff was highly appreciated by the SC members. Their contribution assures the quality of the provided by the Centre products and further development in the domain of crisis management and disaster response.

The Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) organized and conducted the NATO Crisis Management Exercise 2017 (CMX17) Final Planning Conference (FPC) from 06 to 10 February 2017 at Boyana Residence, Sofia, Bulgaria.
The exercise is sponsored by NATO Secretary General and is jointly run by the International Staff, the International Military Staff and the two NATO Strategic Commands – Allied Command Operations and Allied Command Transformation.
