CMDR COE Academic Advisory Board (AAB) meeting

The Academic Advisory Board (AAB) is an independent body, which assists the CMDR COE in managing the scientific research and educational activities of the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE).
The AAB supports the CMDR COE during the overall process of planning, development and approval of the CMDR COE Programme of Work (PoW) and projects, Education and Training Curriculum / Syllabus for conducting courses, workshops, seminars and conferences within respective area of crisis management and disaster response. AAB provides methodological guidance in order to enhance the effectiveness of the scientific research, analytical activities, education and training events.
The AAB is composed by representatives with academic background from the CMDR COE Framework and Sponsoring Nations.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Velizar SHALAMANOV has been nominated and elected as the new AAB Chairperson. CMDR COE Director Colonel Orlin NIKOLOV expressed his gratitude to the first AAB Chairperson, Prof. DrSc Mitko STOYKOV for his contribution and dedication. Lieutenant Colonel Margariga KUMANOVA was appointed as a Secretary of the AAB.
The AAB members from the Republic of Bulgaria, the Republic of Poland and Romania adopted the AAB Terms of References and noted the specific events from the CMDR COE POW 2025 shall be subject to monitoring. The Chairperson, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nina DOBRINKOVA, Colonel, Assoc. Prof. Dariusz MAJCHRZAK and Police Chief Superintendent Florin-Viorel STEFAN approved their participation and support to the academic program 2025.
The AAB members and CMDR COE are looking forward for their furhter collaboration and beneficial academic contribution.

The CMDR COE organised an internal seminar which was held on 20.12.2013. The main focus of the seminar was the crisis in Syria. The CMDR COE experts discussed issued related to the chronology of the crisis; the increased influx of refugees to neighbouring countries and Bulgaria; the positions of NATO, the UN and EU; the involvement of international humanitarian organisations etc.
» read moreOn 11-12 December 2013, the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) co-hosted together with US European Command (USEUCOM) and the US embassy in Bulgaria the workshop Visualizing Implications of Climate Change on Military Activities and Relationships. The opening remarks were given by the Deputy Minister of Defence of Bulgaria, Mr. Ivan Ivanov, who welcomed the participants and underlined the importance of the topics that the workshop focused on.
