Broader Initiative to Fortify Resilience

In partnership with the United States European Command (EUCOM) and the Government of Bulgaria, the Institute for Security Governance (ISG) convened a workshop in Sofia from January 29 to February 02, 2024. This collaborative event in Sofia, hosted by the Crisis Management and Disaster Response (CMDR) Center of Excellence (COE), marked a crucial step in a broader initiative to fortify Bulgaria's public-private partnerships (PPPs) in support of national resilience.
This workshop gathered key stakeholders from Bulgarian national ministries and institutions and international partners to engage in strategic planning and institutional capacity building. The event included attendance by the Head of the NATO Euro Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC), as well as a virtual presentation from the Head of Business Continuity Office at NATO.
The workshop, facilitated by the ISG Emergency Management and Resilience (EM&R) team, emphasized the development of actionable strategies to transition from theory to practice in building more resilient societies and critical infrastructure. Discussions culminated in a commitment to further support capacity building for successful implementation of the national resilience goals and raising awareness at higher political level, ensuring whole-of-government approach. The event was coordinated by the Security Council Secretariat under the Council of Ministers. Mr. Dyakov, the Bulgarian Senior Resilience Official, emphasized Bulgarian Government's commitment to enhancing readiness to meet NATO Baseline Requirements for Resilience and the role of the public-private partnerships to enhance overall societal resilience.
