CMDR COE Supports initial efforts for NATO–Jordan Emergency Management Exercise “DARB ALAMAN 7”

From 15 to 17 September 2026, the Initial Planning Conference (IPC) for the NATO–Jordan Emergency Management Exercise “DARB ALAMAN 7” was conducted in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The conference was organised through the joint efforts of NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), and representatives of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

It brought together representatives and subject matter experts involved in the preparation and conduct of the exercise. The discussions provided an opportunity to establish a common understanding of the exercise framework, coordinate planning activities and responsibilities, and further develop the organisational and operational arrangements required for the subsequent stages of the exercise planning process.

Particular attention was given to ensuring that the exercise reflects relevant Host Nation priorities and provides an effective environment for strengthening emergency preparedness, interagency coordination and multinational cooperation.

The CMDR COE contributed to the conference with its specialised expertise in crisis management, disaster response and exercise planning as a part of the Core planning team. Working closely with the EADRCC and Jordanian counterparts, the Centre supported the planning process and the development of a coherent framework aimed at connecting strategic and operational requirements with practical exercise activities.

The conference also provided a valuable platform for professional exchange among the organisers and participating experts. The constructive discussions helped identify areas requiring further development and established a common basis for continued work during the next phases of the planning process.

“DARB ALAMAN 7” will form part of NATO’s continuing efforts to support emergency preparedness and practical cooperation with partner countries. Such exercises provide an opportunity for national authorities, international organisations and emergency-management professionals to train together, improve interoperability and strengthen their ability to coordinate effectively during complex emergencies.

The CMDR COE remains committed to supporting the EADRCC, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the wider community of crisis management and disaster response practitioners throughout the whole process. The Centre will continue contributing its expertise to the development of the exercise and to activities aimed at strengthening preparedness, resilience, effective coordination and multinational cooperation.

The successful conduct of the Initial Planning Conference represents another step towards “DARB ALAMAN 7” and provides a solid foundation for the forthcoming planning activities leading to the NATO–Jordan Emergency Management Exercise in 2027.
