Computer-Assisted Exercises and Wargaming Training Successfully Conducted in Sofia
Date: (11-07-2025)
The Computer Assisted Exercises and Wargames Course, held from 7 to 11 July 2025 in Sofia, Bulgaria, concluded successfully, bringing together participants from the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), the Bulgarian National Military Training Centre “Charalitsa”, and representatives from the Bulgarian Ministry of Defence.
The comprehensive training was conducted by Professor Erdal Çayirci of ETE Technology, a leading expert in modelling, simulation, and wargaming. The course focused on enhancing participants' understanding and application of modern methodologies and tools in the planning and execution of military exercises and wargames.
Over five days, attendees engaged in a structured programme covering key areas such as scenario and incident list development, training objective analysis, and database design. Practical sessions included hands-on training with the advanced tools etecube® and hymots®, enabling participants to simulate realistic operational environments and decision-making processes effectively.
The agenda also included the development and execution of exercises and wargames using computer-assisted methods, culminating in a final day of full wargame execution.
This course marks another step in strengthening the cooperation between defence institutions and the application of innovative technologies in military education and operational planning.
