CMDR COE Extends Crucial Assistance to Jordan′s National Exercise
Date: (26-09-2023)
In a significant display of international cooperation, two representatives from the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) recently participated in Jordan's national earthquake preparedness exercise, "Darb al Aman 3" ("Safety Path 3"). The exercise, conducted with the aim of assessing the readiness and responsiveness of both public and private institutions in the face of seismic events, served as a vital test of Jordan's capabilities in disaster response and recovery.
"Darb al Aman 3" was meticulously designed to evaluate a range of critical factors, including the ability to conduct response and rescue operations, safeguard essential infrastructure, efficiently handle the distribution of aid, update essential databases, and effectively manage awareness messaging during and after an earthquake. The overarching goal was to ensure the seamless continuation of daily life in the aftermath of such a natural disaster.
CMDR COE's participation in this exercise came at the invitation of the National Center for Security and Crisis Management (NCSCM) based in Amman. The initiative was organized and facilitated by the NATO Defence Capacity Building Trust Fund, reinforcing the strong ties between Jordan and the international community in addressing disaster preparedness and crisis management.
During the exercise, CMDR COE's delegates assumed the role of impartial observers, meticulously analyzing and evaluating the preparations leading up to the event, the actions taken by national institutions on the ground, and the coordination of their collective efforts from the operational center. Their comprehensive report will serve as a valuable resource for enhancing the crisis response and management capabilities of Jordanian institutions when dealing with natural disasters like earthquakes.
The collaboration between CMDR COE and Jordan underscores the importance of international partnerships in disaster preparedness and response. By sharing expertise and knowledge, nations can strengthen their resilience and capacity to manage crises arising from natural disasters effectively. This joint effort signifies a significant step towards a safer and more prepared Jordan in the face of potential seismic events, further solidifying international commitment to disaster resilience.
