Assembly of CMDR COE Governing Body

On 16-17 October 2019, the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) hosted an important event – the 7th Steering Committee Meeting. Annually meeting of the Centre's governing body plays a significant role in planning its actions, particularly in terms of identifying goals and perspectives, funding current and future activities as well as approving strategic steps required for further development.
LGen Dimitar Iliev, Deputy Chief of Defence of the Republic of Bulgaria and Chairman of SC presided the meeting’s session attended by Sponsoring Nations representatives.
The representatives from the Sponsoring nations, Colonel Ioannis Chondroudakis (Hellenic Republic) and Colonel Ireneusz Zygmunt (Republic of Poland), as well as the observer form Allied Command Transformation – Commander(N) John Grey congratulated the CMDR COE’s Director and staff for the ambitious and successful work fulfilled in 2019 and expressed their warm wishes for further strengthening the positions of the Centre as a valuable CMDR expertise hub.
Brigadier general Radostin Iliev, the representative of the Framework nation, Director Defense Policy and Planning Directorate (Bulgarian MOD), expressed his satisfaction with the broad scope of activities the Center has successfully accomplished in 2019, thus building its position as a constructive partner and as a valuable tool for enhancing civilian and military CMDR capabilities within NATO, Allies’, and Partners’ crisis management systems.
During the meeting, SC approved the proposed Programme of Work 2020 of the Centre as well as the proposed CMDR COE budget estimates for FY-2020.
Members of SC highly apprised the achievements of the Centre during 2019 where it has obtained an Unconditional Accreditation and NATO Quality Assurance Certificate. The SC acknowledged the ongoing progress in CMDR COE activities and was noted on the recently signed cooperation agreements with the Capacity Building International Institute (Delaware, USA), Bulgarian Ministry of Interior and Polish War Studies University Warsaw.
As a clear sign of constructive commitment to possible future partnership with CMDR COE, for the first time guests – observers from Hungary, Spain and North Macedonia were among the distinguished guests during the meeting.
The 7th Steering Committee meeting was concluded with positive decisions taken by its members with the spirit of continuing the fruitful cooperation and collaboration of the three constituting nations.
