CMDR COE Hosts Course on Crisis Management in a Multilateral Framework
Date: (14-05-2026)
From 12 to 15 May, the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) is conducting the Crisis Management in a Multilateral Framework course, bringing together experts from leading diplomatic, academic, and defence institutions. The course is organised in cooperation with the Diplomatic Institute to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, Egmont – Royal Institute for International Relations, Belgium, and within the framework of the European Security and Defence College (ESDC), Brussels. The initiative is also supported by the “G. S. Rakovski” National Defence College and the University of National and World Economy, Department of International Relations. Over the four-day programme, participants examine emerging challenges to global and regional security through an academic and practice-oriented approach to current political and military crises. The course combines expert lectures and discussions with practical activities designed to enhance understanding of crisis diplomacy and multilateral decision-making. A key element of the programme is a tabletop exercise focused on diplomacy and a coordinated international response. The exercise highlights the role of the European Union and other major international actors, including the United Nations, NATO, the OSCE, and various non-governmental organisations. By promoting dialogue, practical learning, and inter-institutional cooperation, the course enhances participants’ knowledge and skills in addressing complex crises in a multilateral environment.
