Headquarters, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation (HQ SACT), in cooperation with the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), successfully conducted the 2016 COE Legal Advisors (LEGADs) Conference in Sofia on 24-25 February 2016.
The conference was attended by SACT Staff Legal Advisor and brought together legal advisors from 18 COEs and lawyers from MoDs and Armed Forces from 17 nations (BGR, CZE, EST, FRA, GBR, HUN, ITA, LVA, LTU, NLD, POL, ROU, SVK, SVN, ESP, TUR, USA).
The event was honored by Mr. Tony Wedge, expert TNB, HQ SACT as his last official visit prior to his retirement. CMDR COE Director extended his gratitude towards Mr. Wedge for the significant role he played in the successful accreditation of the Centre and awarded him a small token of appreciation.
The LEGADs conference was intended as a forum directed towards current and future COEs. The core task of the event is the establishment of a Community of Interest (COI) in order to foster interoperability and create a forum for exchanging best practices and lessons learned on legal aspects concerning the administration and operation of COEs.
The outcome of the conference was the establishment of common understanding of COE challenges regarding legal issues and where possible to provide practical common solutions.
