First Annual Discipline Conference for the Business Continuity Management Discipline

First Annual Discipline Conference for the Business Continuity Management Discipline

Date: (05-06-2025)

The first Annual Discipline Conference for the Business Continuity Management discipline was held at the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence in Sofia, Bulgaria, on June 5th, 2025. CMDR COE serves as the Department Head for the NATO BCM discipline.

The conference, led by CMDR COE staff, gathered over 30 officers, specialists, and business continuity managers from NATO Commands, NATO agencies, Centres of Excellence, national authorities, and other affiliated organizations. The participants worked collaboratively to align BCM efforts across the Alliance to enhance NATO’s overall resilience and continuity of operations.

The BCM discipline is a key component within NATO’s Global Programming for Education & Training, Exercises, and Evaluation. NATO’s Global Programming framework ensures a coordinated and coherent approach to Education and Training across multiple disciplines, each with its distinct focus area, ensuring efficiency and avoiding duplication of efforts.

The CMDR COE will publish the Business Continuity Management Discipline Alignment Plan 2025, which reflects the progress made, current gaps, and the way forward for the discipline. Building on the outcomes and discussions from this year’s ADC, CMDR COE will continue to lead the development of NATO’s BCM training, doctrine, and best practices.

With the increasing importance of resilience and operational continuity in today’s security environment, CMDR COE remains committed to the challenge of “connecting the dots” by identifying, developing, and orchestrating innovative solutions that meet NATO’s evolving requirements.
