New Continent Reached by CMDR COE

Date: (01-04-2025)
A team of six experts from the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE), led by its Director, Colonel Orlin Nikolov, successfully conducted a five-day Mobile Education and Training session on Managing Contemporary Crisis in Ethiopia. This initiative marks the first NATO-affiliated training mission in the region in the past five years.
The course brought together participants from 14 nations within the African Union, providing a dynamic and interactive learning experience. The training focused on practical approaches to crisis management, fostering critical thinking, and enhancing the capacity of participants to respond effectively to complex challenges in their respective regions. The sessions were widely praised for their engaging format, hands-on exercises, and relevance to real-world crisis situations.
The success of this training has sparked significant interest, with multiple requests for similar courses in other African nations. This overwhelming response highlights the crucial need for continued collaboration and knowledge-sharing in crisis management between NATO entities and African partners.
Colonel Nikolov emphasized the importance of such engagements, stating, “We are honored to contribute to capacity-building efforts across Africa. The enthusiasm and commitment of the participants reaffirm the value of strategic cooperation in strengthening crisis management capabilities.”
The CMDR COE remains committed to expanding its educational outreach and fostering stronger international partnerships to enhance global resilience and security.
