CMDR COE Hosted a Meeting on Space Weather Data Processing for Improving Resilience Models

Date: (12-02-2025)
The Crisis Management and Disaster Response Centre of Excellence (CMDR COE) successfully hosted a virtual meeting as part of the NATO Modeling and Simulation Group-235 initiative on Space Weather Data Processing for Improving Resilience Models. The meeting brought together experts and representatives from Space COE, the German Aerospace Center (DLR), UK ThinkTank Maths Limited, Systematic, and Italian stakeholders to discuss the strategic impact of space weather on military and critical infrastructure operations.
The meeting opened with remarks from CMDR COE, emphasizing the importance of space weather resilience for NATO operations. Participants discussed the scope and goals of the NMSG-235 initiative, focusing on AI-driven modelling to predict space weather impacts on military assets. Key scientific and technological discussions were centred on developing AI-based correlation models and the Ground-based Remote Other-space Observation Terminal (GROOT) hardware platform. All participants shared insights on resilience modelling, data-sharing frameworks, and interoperability strategies. The meeting concluded with an action plan outlining the next steps, including further research, AI tool development, and continued international collaboration to enhance NATO’s preparedness against space weather disruptions.
