25th World GIS Day

Date: (29-10-2024)

NATO and leading international experts arrive in Sofia for the 25th World GIS Day.

Security, sustainable development and smart infrastructure are among the highlights of the largest geospatial technology conference in our country

On November 20, Bulgaria will mark the 25th World Day of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) with a conference on "United in GIS solutions, we create a better future".

The largest GIS event in the country will bring together proven international and Bulgarian experts who will demonstrate live the latest trends, solutions and good practices in geospatial technologies. GIS applications and implemented projects in various fields will be shown: cadastre, environment, security, communal services, transport, local self-government, territorial planning, education, etc.

A special guest at the World GIS Day conference is Giuseppe Pino Nobile, Director of Geospatial Technologies at HATO. He will present the role of GIS technologies in support of the Alliance Situation Center. The application of geographic information systems to provide situational awareness to the North Atlantic Council and the Military Committee in times of peace, tension and crisis, as well as for high-level exercises, will be demonstrated.

Great interest is also expected to be caused by the participation in the World GIS Day of Jan Koppel, Business Development Manager at Esri Europe. It will present the latest trends in GIS technologies and their innovative and large-scale applications in Europe.
