Disaster Relief in CSDP Context

This year iteration of the Disaster Relief in CSDP Context course was open by H.E. Mr. Brandusa Predescu, the Ambassador of Romania to the Republic of Bulgaria, and Dr. Raed Arafat, Head of the Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) Romania. The event was attended by representatives from various civil and military structures and institutions from Bulgaria, United States of America, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands and Romania.
The aim of the course is to provide fundamental knowledge about the impact of man-made, natural, and climate-driven disasters on European Security, with a particular focus on the conduct of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) and the Common Security and Defense Policy (CSDP). Participants will gain insights into the EU's institutional structures, mechanisms, and instruments used in disaster relief, rescue, and humanitarian activities, emphasizing the synchronization of diverse civilian and military CFSP/CSDP assets in disaster response. Additionally, the course will address the EU's partnerships and cooperation with stakeholders such as the UN, NATO, and leading humanitarian NGOs.
