Participation in the Bulgaria-Japan-Western Balkans Workshop

Under the patronage of H.E. Mr. Hisashi MICHIGAMI – Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Bulgaria, Mr. Kiril TSENKIN – Deputy Minister of Interior, Ms. Elena SHEKERLETOVA – Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bulgaria, on the 28th and 29th of February, in the Astoria Grand Hotel was held a two-day session of the BULGARIA-JAPAN-WESTERN BALKANS Workshop.
The topic of the event was “Improving disaster risk management understanding”, which welcomed multiple guests and lecturers from the host nation, Japan, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia.
Multiple representatives of International Organizations (World Bank, Red Cross, UN and the European Commission) operating in the relevant field, presented their expertise, lessons learned, vision, prediction for future development and opinion for improvement and enlarged cooperation in the face of the upcoming challenges.
The Director of the Crisis Management and Disaster Response Center of Excellence (CMDR COE), Colonel Orlin NIKOLOV presented a brief on Prevention in Crisis and Disaster Management Context, and acknowledged the guests with the capacity and advantages of CMDR COE as educational institution. The lecture was highly appreciated by the auditorium. It was expressed an opinion that CMDR COE should seek expansion of its activity in the private sector, as well.
