Planning and Conducting Disaster Relief Operations Course at SEEBRIG HQ
Date: (17-09-2019)
From 10 to 12 September 2019 a Planning and Conducting Disaster Relief Operations Course was held at South-Eastern Europe Brigade (SEEBRIG) HQ, Larissa, Greece.
The aim of the event was acquisition of basic knowledge related to disasters as phenomenon, as well as the main players and mechanisms in disaster relief in order to facilitate the use of SEEBRIG ETF tool in such operations.
Twenty-five attendees from SEEBRIG HQ participating nations took part and successfully completed the course.
The course was successfully conducted by the CMDR COE Mobile Education and Training Team (METT) and acquainted the participants with the latest developments within the disaster management field through theoretical panels and challenging practical sessions. Numerous aspects of the disaster risk assessment as well as planning and conducting of disaster response operations and missions were trained during the team works. One innovative mechanism that the participants experienced as a result of the syndicate sessions was the simulation of a strategic game, providing the opportunity to see the practical reflection of their chosen courses of action.
All course learning objectives were covered and the course aim was fully achieved. During their closing remarks, CMDR COE’s Team and SEEBRIG Commander expressed their mutual desire for the continuation of the fruitful cooperation and collaboration into the future.
