DISASTER MANAGEMENT COURSE (ONLINE USING JADL PLATFORM)

Recognizing the increasing role of physical and human induced disasters in contemporary and future security environment, from 14 March 2022, CMDR COE starts conducting Disaster Management Course online using Joint Advanced Distributed Learning (JADL) platform. The course aim is acquisition of basic knowledge related to disasters as phenomenon, the disaster management process and its close relation to the risk management process, as well as the main players and mechanisms in disaster response. The course includes various briefings covering the following topics: Disaster Fundamentals, Disaster Environment and Disaster Risk Management, Risk and Vulnerability Assessment, National Disaster Risk Reduction Planning, UN Role in Disaster Relief, EU Civil Protection Mechanism, NATO Civil Emergency Planning, Civil-Military Coordination in HA/DR, etc.
Aim:
The course aims at building basic knowledge on disasters and on the disaster management process and mechanisms, including on disaster risk management, and on the main disaster management stakeholders.

Learning objectives
- Comprehend the basic theoretical foundations of man-made, technological an natural disasters;
- Outline the main terms and definitions related to Disaster Management process;
- Describe the main processes in the Disaster Management and the Disaster Risk Reduction in accordance with UN, NATO and EU concepts;
- Outline the key actors, factors, mechanisms and interactions in the disaster response domain within the context of NATO Comprehensive Approach;
- Understand the military’s role within the DM process in UN, NATO and EU.

This course is comprised of eight modules which build upon each other according to a systemic approach. Depending on your pace, the course completion should be within 3 days (if you dedicate 4 hours per day).

- Complete all Course Modules (you have to study Module 1 – 8 to complete the course).
- Complete the Final Test (Module 9)!
- Submit the course evaluation survey in the CONTENT section of that page!
- The course fee should be paid upon course completion (more information how to pay you can find below)!
The course fee is € 200, excluding participants from the CMDR COE Sponsoring nations – the Hellenic Republic, the Republic of Poland, Republic of Romania, Republic of Hungary and the CMDR COE Framework Nation - the Republic of Bulgaria.
