The global pandemic caused by the corona-virus has a devastating effect on many countries. The crisis is having an impact on NATO activities and exercises. The complex security realm posed new and unknown challenges to NATO which require an adequate response. Discovering, developing and utilizing advanced knowledge and cutting-edge science and technology is fundamental to maintaining the technological edge that has enabled the Alliance to succeed across the full spectrum of operations over the past decades. Therefore, it is at most importance to be up to date with new technologies which can improve NATO’s capabilities, in particular: computing available anytime and anywhere. Sharing such key technologies among NATO members could provide new capabilities for the Alliance or combining and translate them into synergistic superiority, where pre-pandemic challenges remain with digitalization, artificial intelligence (Al), cyber, robotics, mass-migration and frozen conflicts.
The conference will comprise four online plenary sessions on 27 October 2020, followed by panel discussions.
